The Impossible List

I recently become aware of the impossible list:

A bucket list is focused [on] what you do before you die, the impossible list is focused on how you live.

Here’s mine:

Climb

  • Lead 5.9 trad
  • Sleep on a porta-ledge while big wall climbing
  • Summit a technical alpine peak
  • Climb El Capitan in Yosemite
  • Climb in Patagonia
  • Become an AMGA-certified Rock Guide
  • Climb Wallface in the remote High Peaks of New York [Oct. 2023]

Hike

Run

  • Run a marathon
  • Run an ultramarathon
  • Complete an Ironman course
  • Run a half-marathon [Oct. 2023]

Travel

  • Visit Japan
  • Visit Alaska
  • Visit all the national parks in the USA
  • Swim on the beaches of Australia

Work

  • Run my own guiding service
  • Open a bouldering gym
  • Open a doggy day care with a bar
  • Combine ^^all three^^ businesses into one
  • Establish the go-to spot for Adirondack climbers with camping and socializing (a la Miguel’s Pizza of Red River Gorge)

Web

  • Be a (real) guest on the Clockwise podcast
  • Write for one of my favorite tech publications
  • Write for one of my favorite outdoor publications
  • Make enough money from my site’s affiliated projects to cover its costs
  • Develop an iOS app
  • Get 10,000 visitors to my blog in a month [Nov. 2023]
  • Be a guest on a podcast [Oct. 2023]
