Markdown Memes shortcut

Use Apple Shortcuts to easily save and share your favorite memes as Markdown text.

This shortcut helps you to reuse memes saved as Markdown without having to re-upload the image to your Micro.blog account (or wherever you upload your image files), or re-write their alt text over and over again. It presents a list of memes, saved to a text file, for you to choose from and allows you to upload new memes and save them to that same text file.

Some niceties include…

  • Auto-setup upon the first run to create the necessary text file in your Shortcuts folder in iCloud Drive
  • Dynamically auto-sorting function to get your most-used memes to the top of the list
  • Auto-updates the use count of each meme every time you select it from the list.

An alert upon completion of the shortcut informs you that it did, indeed, correctly copy the meme’s Markdown to the clipboard.
